Suna (formerly Aegir) 30 square metre class windfall yacht (Seefahrtkreuzer)32ft (9.85 metres) LOA. Beam approx 6ft6" (1.9m) Built Abeking & Rasmussen , Germany , 1936, Boat number 3005.
Lots of history - Taken as a windfall yacht in war reparations by British forces 1945, stationed in Gibraltar and then Malta (where she was renamed Suna) including various historic races and royal visits.
Mahogany planking on Oak frames.Lead keel Full structural restoration 1996-1998 including new deck (pitch pine strip planking on marine ply) and new coachroof, some new frames, new keel bolts and floor bolts. Approx 28,000 pounds spent in total. Suna now suffers from a large number of cracked frames (perhaps due to excessive splining and caulking during the restoration). Many of these have already been replaced or sistered, however many more still require attention. One or two planks have some soft bits and may require either new wood scarfing in or one whole new plank soon.
Aluminimum mast, old but good and solid, appears to have plenty of life left in it. Mast is stepped on the coachroof in a tabernacle, enabling the mast to be lowered or raised by one man using a winch and metal A-frame. This means Suna could easily travel under bridges and through the canals to the mediterranean.
Electrics/Navigation: Brand new top quality custom built waterproof electrics panel with solar panel, 240v mains panel, battery monitors, inverter and dual high capacity automatic electric bilge pumps with seperate batteries and bilge water level alarms. Panel does everything you could ever want and has push button trip switches so no fuses to change. Both start and service batteries are new last year. New Cobra waterproof GMDSS VHF radio with cockpit speakerGPSLarge number of charts covering coast from brighton-liverpool and some of irish coast. Many are now a few years out of date and require correcting.Fixed steering compass.Hand bearing compass
Engine: Renault Marine Couach 6hp single cylinder sea water cooled diesel driving an offset propellor (ie rudder post has not been cut), very simple and very reliable indeed. Equipped with new electric starter, hand starter and engine driven bilge pump. Alternator is not currently working but solar panel provides plenty of power to charge batteries. Spare Engine:Lombardini 8hp, much newer and more powerful (also more noisy) than the renault but requires a bit of work due to problems with the throttle control/governor sticking.
Interior: Brand new 100% stainless steel Origo 2 burner spirit cooker.Genuine Blake Baby porcelain sea toilet in full working order but would benefit from some restoration.Two quarter berths.Otherwise the interior has been totally stripped out to access the frames requiring replacement.

Sails and rigging: Nearly new mainsail and working jib.
